The reprogramming of COMPETE 2030, which accounts for a third of the programme’s total budget, reinforces the focus on specialisation and the integration of critical technologies such as biotechnology, clean energy, deep tech and digitalisation, areas considered crucial for the future of the economy.

Among the new features presented was the opening up of the possibility for large companies to access the funds, either individually or in collaboration with SMEs, depending on the call, recognising their “important impact on the national economy”.

The President of COMPETE 2030 presented these and other points of the reprogramming, including the focus on speeding up implementation, the various measures being implemented to increase liquidity for beneficiaries, including the optimisation of payment mechanisms and advances.

Alexandra Vilela also highlighted the investment in ongoing tests to optimise the processes for analysing and approving applications, in particular through collaboration with INESQ ID to integrate artificial intelligence into the analysis tools, promoting the automation of tasks and speeding up decision-making.
