ITSCREDIT develops the MFS platform, with AI for responsible credit, creating solutions tailored to individuals and businesses.
Artificial intelligence strengthens risk management in the financial sector
Operation co-financed by COMPETE 2030 creates a platform to monitor financing and anticipate defaults, promoting responsible lending in financial institutions.
Response to a demanding context
Global instability puts pressure on banking activity and requires new approaches to customer assessment. Institutions need to identify risks early and act quickly. According to António Monteiro, co-founder of ITSCREDIT, ‘extreme events such as pandemics and sensitive geological situations have a significant and unpredictable impact on all economic sectors, creating new challenges in risk management, particularly in the granting of credit’.
Operation MFS accelerates financial monitoring
Operation MFS creates a web platform to track the financing lifecycle. The system aggregates internal and external data and continuously updates indicators.
As a result, risk teams now have early warnings and reporting dashboards at their disposal. They can prioritise critical files and make decisions based on objective evidence. The models are adaptive and support continuous recalibration. This allows them to respond better to sudden market changes and reduce false positives in warning signals.
For António Monteiro, ‘the MFS project aims to develop tools for monitoring responsible financing for private customers and companies, supported by modern technologies, with a special emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, which ensure that loans are tailored to the specific characteristics and financial capabilities of customers.’
More accurate assessment and informed decisions
The solution reinforces scoring and rating mechanisms. It identifies behavioural patterns that are difficult to capture manually and improves customer screening.
It also includes automatic calculation of risk-adjusted return (RAROC). This aligns pricing with the customer’s profile and the institution’s strategy.
ESG at the heart of transformation
The platform integrates ESG goals into risk analysis. In this way, it promotes responsible practices and supports the transition to a more sustainable economy. The operation is in line with the National R&I Smart Specialisation Strategy 2030, in the field of Digital Transition.
The head of ITSCREDIT emphasises that ‘the contribution of COMPETE 2030, by reducing the financial risk associated with innovation, has enabled the company to take on a more ambitious project and develop a new solution capable of going beyond the usual monitoring capabilities’.
