Call SICE-MPr/2023/02 - Productive Innovation - Low Density
Individual productive investment operations in innovative activities, promoted by SMEs, in low-density territories.
Customised, sustainable and intelligent production at the service of artists, creatives and brands around the world.
Wonder Raw, a young textile company based in Barcelos, is revolutionising the sector with its ‘Wonder Raw Smart DTG Factory’ operation, a project supported by COMPETE 2030 that combines technological innovation, sustainability and new forms of made-to-order production.
A response to new fashion demands
In a market where long production cycles no longer meet consumer demand, Wonder Raw offers an agile solution for artists, creatives, influencers and brands looking to launch mini customised collections, without waste and with reduced delivery times.
As Rui Costa, the company’s Managing Director, explains:
“The Wonder Raw – Smart DTG Factory project was created to respond to a new reality in the fashion industry: shorter, faster, more flexible and more sustainable production. With the support of COMPETE 2030, we were able to lay the foundations for a smart factory capable of transforming creativity into products, supporting artists, designers and brands in producing unique, customisable and made-to-order collections.”
Cutting-edge technology and sustainability
At the heart of the operation are KORNIT machines with MAX technology, capable of printing directly onto natural and synthetic fabrics with speed, quality and vibrant colours. This commitment to DTG (Direct to Garment) and DTF (Direct to Film) digital printing allows us to eliminate stock, reduce waste and minimise our ecological footprint.
Sustainability is a central pillar: all garments are made from 100% organic cotton, the inks used are water-based, non-toxic and free of heavy metals, and the packaging is made from recycled material.
Economic impact and internationalisation
The project will enable Wonder Raw to offer a distinctive proposition that combines innovation, product customisation, speed to market, service reliability, consistent quality, competitive cost and compliance with sustainability challenges. In addition to the economic aspect, it also contributes to Sustainability and Climate Transition policies, as well as to Digitalisation and Industry 4.0.
Creativity within everyone’s reach
With Wonder Raw, clothing customisation is no longer a restricted privilege. The company’s digital platform allows creators to launch their own brands ‘on demand’, simplifying processes and reducing barriers to entry.
In the words of Rui Costa,
‘This support was instrumental in accelerating our vision and placing Wonder Raw at the forefront of the digital and sustainable transformation of the textile sector.’
